One thing Str8way Ministries is big on is discipleship. This can take place in a variety of ways - teaching a discipleship class, meeting one-on-one, leading a small group, etc. Recently Andrea along with our ministry partner, Kari, have decided that the Children's Curriculum they were writing will end with 2 years. We feel that we have 2 years of good solid lessons and that God has led us to a different phase of developing this ministry. Kari began planning the lessons with her leaders out in Quebracho; and with our potential move to the US there won't be anyone to get excited about the nerdy formatting process like Andrea does... so we are now working on a Teacher's Devotional to accompany the children's curriculum. It will be designed to use the same lessons that the kids are being taught but take them a little deeper for the teacher to apply to their own life.
This idea was inspired by some constructive feedback we got from a fellow Str8way missionary who is using the curriculum. She wanted to know how to make it more relational with the kids and not just rules. We feel strongly that the person teaching is the one who takes the material and makes it more relational with the kids. All of us so often can fall into the habit of just teaching what is on the page, but when we take the time to seek God and study the story ourselves there is a shift. It becomes real to us as well, even if it is Noah and the Ark. There is so much that God wants to teach us out of those stories no matter how old we are or where we are in life. By apply the exact same lessons to our lives, we can then be excited about teaching it to the children and make it more personal.
We are in the test stages of this new project, but it seems to be well received so far. We are taking the stories that specific ministries are currently on and making a devotional for their next lesson or two so they can give us feedback on the structure of it and if it really does help in teaching the children.

Una cosa grande para Str8way Ministries es el discipulado. Esto puede llevarse a cabo en una variedad de formas - la enseñanza de una clase de discipulado, reunidos uno a uno, guiar a un pequeño grupo, etc. Recientemente Andrea junto con nuestra compañera de ministerio, Kari, han decidido que el curriculum de niños que estaban escribiendo terminará con 2 años. Sentimos que tenemos 2 años de buenas lecciones sólidas y que Dios nos ha llevado a una fase diferente de desarrollo de este ministerio. Kari comenzó a planificar las lecciones con sus líderes en Quebracho, y con nuestro potencial traslado a los EE.UU. no habrá nadie a entusiasmarse con el proceso de formatear en la computadora como Andrea hace ... así que ahora estamos trabajando en un devocional para los maestros para acompañar el curriculum de los niños. Se ha diseñado para utilizar las mismas lecciones que se enseñan a los niños, pero con un poco más de profundidad para que el maestro las aplica a su propia vida.
Esta idea fue inspirada por una retroalimentación constructiva que recibimos de una compañera misionera de Str8way que está utilizando nuestro curriculum. Quería saber cómo hacer lo más relacional con los niños y no sólo como reglas. Estamos convencidos de que la parte del maestro que toma el material es quien hace que sea más relacional con los niños. Todos nosotros fácilmente podemos caer en el hábito de simplemente enseñar lo que hay en la página, pero cuando nos tomamos el tiempo para buscar a Dios y estudiar la historia nosotros mismos hay un cambio. Se vuelve real para nosotros también, incluso si es Noé y el Arca. Hay mucho que Dios nos quiere enseñar de esas historias no importa la edad que tengamos, o donde estamos en la vida. Al aplicar exactamente las mismas lecciones a nuestras vidas, podemos estar contentos con la enseñanza a los niños y hacer que sea más personal.
Estamos en las etapas de prueba de este nuevo proyecto, pero parece estar bien hasta ahora. Estamos tomando las historias en que los ministerios están actualmente y hacer un devocional para su próxima lección o dos para que nos puedan dar su opinión sobre la estructura y si realmente ayuda en la enseñanza de los niños.
