Birthday Celebrations / Celebrando Cumpleaños

In April we celebrated two birthdays, Nani (Orlando's older brother) and Fernando Daniel (Nani's son). Their birthdays are just 4 days apart so we celebrated them together when they were finally able to make a trip to the farm. Nani got a banana cake with chocolate frosting, and Daniel got a chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. We made Pupusas for everyone and just enjoyed being together again.

En abril celebramos dos cumpleaños, de Nani (el hermano mayor de Orlando) y de Fernando Daniel (el hijo de Nani). Sus cumpleaños son solo 4 días separados entonces los celebramos juntos cuando  pudieron venir a la finca. Nani recibió un queque de banano con baño de chocolate, y para Daniel un queque de chocolate con baño de vainilla. Hicimos pupusas para todos y disfrutamos estar juntos otra vez.

Nica Life Highlights / Momentos de la Vida Nicaragüense

We thought we'd give you some random snippits of Nica life... Not things that necessarily merit a whole blog post but are interesting, entertaining and show a bit of what real life is for us...

Pensamos en darles unos vistas breves de nuestra vida Nica... no son cosas que necesariamente merezcan un blog entero pero son interesantes, entretén y muestra un poco de la vida real para nosotros.

For 50 cordoba (about $2) we picked almonds. The Nicas don't use them much, but there are trees everywhere!

Por 50 córdoba cosechamos almendras. Los Nicas no las usan mucho pero hay arboles de almendra en todos partes.

   We got to visit Chunzo, one of Jamaica's pups. He was given to some friends of ours.

Visitamos Chunzo, uno de los cachorros de Jamaica. Fue regalado a unos de nuestros amigos.

We woke up one day and were locked in! The padlock wouldn't open so we had to saw it off. Jamaica really wanted out! :)

Un día despertamos y estábamos atrapados adentro. No pudimos abrir el candado y teníamos que cortarlo. Jamaica queria salir! :)

Mia, Jamaica's pup, is a frequent visitor at our house. Here she is being spoiled by Orlando with some Hammock time! :)

Mía, un cachorro de Jamaica, visita nuestra casa frequentemente. Aquí está mimada por Orlando con tiempo en la hamaca. :)
