Mandatory Vacation 2013 / Vacaciones Obligatorias 2013

Andrea had to cross over the border to Costa Rica again to renew her visa. The Nicaraguan law says you have to be out of the country for 72 hours, although there are many who just cross over for lunch and then come right back. We don't mind being kicked out of the country for a few days because it forces us to actually take a vacation and rest! We usually just go to Liberia, which is one of the closest towns about an hour over the border. This time while looking for a good budget hotel to stay in, we found a one-bedroom apartment for rent right on the beach for just $10 more than any hotel we could find in town (an hour from the beach). We decided that was the option for us because we could then cook some of our own meals and not have to spend a fortune eating out for three meals a day. All in all, it was a great decision. We are very thankful for this vacation with just the two of us as it was some much needed time together. Please enjoy our little photo album we put together (see below the Spanish).

Andrea tenia que cruzar la frontera a Costa Rica otra vez para renovar su visa. La ley Nicaragüense dice que tiene que estar fuera del país por 72 horas, aunque hay muchos que solo cruzan para almorzar y regresan. No nos molesta que nos echan fuera del país por algunos días porque ¡nos obliga a tomar unas vacaciones y descansar!  Usualmente solo vamos a Liberia, que es una de las ciudades más cerca ya que es solo como una hora al otro lado de la frontera. Esta vez mientras buscábamos por un hotel económico, encontramos un departamento de una habitación para alquilar en la playa por solo $10 más que cualquier hotel que pudimos encontrar en la ciudad (una hora de la playa). Decidimos que esta era la opción para nosotros porque podríamos entonces cocinar nuestra comida y no tener que gastar una fortuna comiendo afuera tres veces al día. Al final, era una decisión estupenda. Estamos muy agradecidos por estas vacaciones con solo nosotros dos ya que era tiempo juntos muy necesitado. Por favor disfruta nuestra pequeña álbum de fotos.
