Back in April/May Orlando did his internship at a local Cyber (Internet Cafe). It just so happens that the owner of the cyber is also our local veterinary. Over the years, and with Jamaica's complicated self, we have formed somewhat of a friendship with her and the family. So as he was finishing up his internship, he was visiting with her one day and she mentioned that they actually wanted to sell the cyber. Orlando's heart skipped a beat.... that is one of his dreams, to own his own business and possibly a cyber. They had a potential buyer and had made an arrangement to give them time to find the money to purchase it.
In the meantime, we began talking and felt that if it became available to us it could be a good opportunity. We sat on it and prayed about it for a couple months before sharing with anyone. Once we shared with our parents and a few friends, seeking advice, we felt like it could really be an opportunity for us. Even though we would be moving to the US in the near future (we hope), it could be a good investment to have for if/when we come back to Nicaragua. So we asked for all the numbers and data to go over. And since we personally don't have the money saved up, we sought out some potential loaners within the family. But to no avail. So for the time being, it seems like the door is closing for this opportunity.
However, in the meantime Orlando was offered a job at the cyber. He is now basically running the place during the week. He literally opens at 8am and is there until close at 9pm, Monday-Friday and Saturday half-day. It is long hours and thankfully he gets an hour lunch in there when there are no clients and he has the opportunity to close (Andrea has only had to take him lunch a few times).The long hours have been very hard for Orlando, but starting this week he will have the full day Saturday and Sunday off! With his administration, sales have greatly improved and Orlando often gets a small tip from clients because they are just so grateful for his service. :)
So now Andrea spends A LOT of time alone, especially since our housemate Kari is currently on a visit to the US. But it has been good. We knew going in that this was an answer to prayer and that it was going to only be for a season. Andrea has found her own rhythm to the days with all the time by herself and it has been very productive. It gives her undistracted time to work on the devotional for our Children's Curriculum, time to do translation work, and even some time to enjoy some sewing projects. And on top of all that, she is content with where God has her in life. One of the things she has always felt was a calling on her life is to be a wife and mother. She is now fulfilling that by supporting Orlando in his job and taking care of things on the home front. Now all that's missing are a few little ones running around. ;) (and no, that is not any sort of announcement!)

En abril y mayo Orlando hizo su practica de la universidad en un ciber local. Lo que pasa es que el dueño del cyber es también nuestro veterinario local. A través de los años, y con la complicada Jamaica, hemos formado un poco de una amistad con ella y la familia. Así que cuando estaba terminando su practica, se encontraba de visita con ella un día y ella mencionó que en realidad querían vender el ciber. El corazón de Orlando dio un vuelco .... que es uno de sus sueños, ser dueño de su propio negocio y, posiblemente, un cyber. Tenían un comprador potencial y habían llegado a un acuerdo para darles tiempo para encontrar el dinero para comprarlo.
Mientras tanto, empezamos a hablar y nos pareció que si se hizo disponible para nosotros podría ser una buena oportunidad. Nos sentamos en ella y oramos en ello durante un par de meses antes de compartir con nadie. Una vez que compartimos con nuestros padres y algunos amigos, en busca de consejo, nos sentimos como si realmente podría ser una oportunidad para nosotros. A pesar de que estaríamos entrando a los EE.UU. en un futuro próximo (esperamos), podría ser una buena inversión para tener para si / cuando volvamos a Nicaragua. Así que pedimos a todos los números y datos para repasar. Y ya que personalmente no tenemos el dinero ahorrado, buscamos algunos prestamistas potenciales dentro de la familia. Pero fue en vano. Así que, por el momento, parece que la puerta se está cerrando por esta oportunidad.
Sin embargo, en el ínterin le ofreció un trabajo a Orlando en el cyber. Él es ahora, básicamente, administrando el lugar durante la semana. Literalmente, se abre a las 8 am y está ahí hasta que cierran a las 9 pm, de lunes a viernes y sábados medio día. Se trata de largas horas y por suerte se le ocurre una hora de almuerzo cuando no hay clientes y tiene la oportunidad de cerrar (Andrea sólo ha tenido que llevarlo almuerzo unas cuantas veces). Las largas horas han sido muy duro para Orlando, pero a partir de esta semana tendrá todo el día sábado y domingo libres! Con su administración, las ventas han mejorado mucho y Orlando a veces recibe una pequeña propina de los clientes, ya que son tan agradecidos por su servicio. :)
Así que ahora Andrea pasa MUCHO tiempo solA, especialmente ahorita que Kari, nuestra compañera de casa, se encuentra en una visita a los EE.UU.. Pero ha sido bueno. Sabíamos que es una respuesta a la oración, y que iba a ser sólo por una temporada. Andrea ha encontrado a su propio ritmo de los días con todo el tiempo por sí misma y ha sido muy productivo. Le da a su tiempo sin distracciones para trabajar en el devocional de Currículo de niños, el tiempo para hacer el trabajo de traducción, e incluso algo de tiempo para disfrutar de algunos proyectos de costura. Y encima de todo eso, ella está contenta con el lugar donde Dios la tiene en la vida. Una de las cosas a que siempre ha sentido llamado en su vida es ser una esposa y madre. Ella ahora está cumpliendolo apoyando Orlando en su trabajo y en el cuidado de las cosas en casa. Ahora lo único que falta son unos pocos pequeños corriendo. ;) (Y no, ¡eso no es ningún tipo de anuncio!)
