Discipleship / Disipulado

Orlando has been discipling two neighbor boys, Holvin and Javier, who accepted Christ in our house back in August during a youth cell group. We had talked about including a third boy, Brandon (Javier's cousin), as well from the beginning, but decided against it because we felt that he could be more of a distraction to Holvin and Javier. But after the first week, Javier asked Orlando if Brandon could join them as well. This was very exciting to us because it was on Brandon's initiative which means he actually wants to be learning, and we see that it could be very beneficial for him. Every Saturday morning they show up and spend about an hour going through the lesson which includes reading verses from the Bible and also reflecting on how that applies to them. After the lesson, Orlando spends some time either playing soccer with them, playing video games on his computer, board games or anything else to pass some quality time with them. They all look forward to Saturday mornings.

In December, they finished the first section of the discipleship material explaining who Jesus is. They have now been working through what salvation means, if you can lose your salvation, that we all are sinners but God is faithful in forgiving us if we confess our sins, etc. Recently, one of these boys has been put to the test with some bad influences and alcohol. His aunt asked Orlando to counsel him so that he wouldn't stray too far as he is only 14 years old and very young to be getting involved with that sort of stuff. Orlando was able to counsel him and as far as we can tell, he has been doing well. Orlando offered him free guitar lessons to help him find a healthy past time to focus on.

Orlando ha estado discipulando dos vecinos, Holvin y Javier, quienes aceptaron a Cristo en nuestra casa en Agosto durante una célula de jóvenes. Hablamos de incluir un tercer muchacho, Brandon (el primo de Javier), desde el principio también, pero decidimos que no porque sentimos que él podría ser una distracción para los otros. Pero después de la primer semana, Javier preguntó a Orlando si Brandon podría participar también. Esto nos animó mucho porque fue la iniciativa de Brandon entonces significa que él quiere estar aprendiendo, y creemos que puede ser beneficial para el. Cada sábado por la mañana, llegan con sus Biblias y pasan una hora estudiando la lección que incluye leyendo versículos de la Biblia y también reflexionando como los pueden aplicar. Después de la enseñanza, Orlando pasa un tiempo con ellos jugando fútbol, video juegos en la computadora, juegos de mesa, o otra cosa para pasar un tiempo de calidad con ellos. Todos esperan las mañanas de sábado con ansias.

En diciembre, terminara la primera seccion de discipulado explicando quien es Jesús. Ahora están estudiando que significa salvación, si uno pueda perder su salvación, que todos somos pecadores pero Dios es fiel en perdonandonos si confesamos nuestro pecado, etc. Recentemente, uno de los chicos ha estado en prueba con unas malas influencias y alcohol. Su tía pidió a Orlando a aconsejarlo para que no desviaba mucho porque solo tiene 14 años y está muy joven para estar metido en eso tipo de cosas. Orlando le aconsejo y parece que ahora está marchando bien. Orlando le ofreció lecciones de la guitarra gratis para ayudarle enfocar en un pasa tiempo sano.
